Women’s Soccer Atop the PCAC Standings

CHULA VISTA, CA – No. 18 Southwestern women's soccer (10-1-3, 8-1-1) remained hot on the pitch with a pair of wins at Grossmont (Oct. 14) 5-1 and Mesa (Oct. 17) 3-1. The Jaguars are enjoying an impressive unbeaten record in away matches.  The victories extend their overall winning streak to six games, demonstrating a solid run of form while maintaining the top position in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference

The Jags continue to find the back of the net with 31 goals scored in PCAC play, coupled with 6 clean sheets to lead the conference.  The team is effective at creating and capitalizing on scoring chances.  Southwestern has offensive depth, skilled attackers, accurate passing, and productive teamwork in the final third of the field.  Defense is a team-wide effort and the forwards and midfielders pressure the opposing offense to force turnovers.  The backline of defenders is effective at preventing shots, winning tackles, and clearing the ball out of danger.  The goalkeeper is highly effective at saving shots on goal and organizing the defense to prevent opponents from getting good scoring opportunities.
