CHULA VISTA, CA – A new era of Jaguar women's water polo is underway—not just for today's student-athletes, but for the future Jags who will benefit from Coach Kim Keach's leadership and track record of competitive success.  Southwestern has plans to build an enduring water polo program that reflects the values of the College and deepens the tradition of excellence in aquatics across Southern California.

Kim Keach's water polo squad will officially take the pool to begin its 2025 season this Friday at the Cypress Tournament, hosted at the Cypress College Aquatic Center.  The tournament will also welcome Cypress, Santa Monica, East Los Angeles, and Chaffey as the Jaguars look to open the fall campaign on a positive note.

Southwestern will play on Friday, Sept. 12, with the first match at 11:15 a.m. against Santa Monica and the second contest at 2:00 p.m. vs. Chaffey.

Of its 17-game spread, SWC will host 4 home games, including two Pacific Coast Athletic Conference games against Palomar and Miramar.

The PCAC Tournament is slated for Friday, November 7th and Saturday, November 8th in Chula Vista, as Southwestern will play host again this season.

Southwestern College will be the site of the 2025 3C2A Women's and Men's Water Polo SoCal Regional Championships (Thursday, 11/13 - Saturday, 11/15).

Assistant Coach

Joining Coach Keach on the deck will be Assistant Coach Hannah Blum.  Following a collegiate swimming career at Cuesta College and competing on the club water polo team at San Diego State University, Coach Blum will enter her 5th year as a coach.  Coach Blum was the former assistant with Coach Keach at Grossmont.  She also spent a few years coaching at East County Aquatics.

The JAGS

Sophomore Captain Aparri Ramos leads the way and is expected to play a big role this year.  Fellow Sophomore Captain Alex Flores will play goalkeeper and as a field player.  Both are key, highly impactful water polo players providing experience and talent for the Jags.

Coach Keach stated, "This team has been putting in the work to prepare for the first whistle. We've got new faces bringing fresh energy and returning players setting the tone with their dedication and heart. We're not just here to play. We're here to compete, to grow, and to make every quarter count. The foundation is being laid right now, and I couldn't be prouder of how this group has shown up for each other. First games of the season are Friday. Time to show what we've been building."
