Southwestern Track and Field Team Thrives at PCAC Championships: Men Finish 4th, Women 5th, Numerous Athletes Qualify for SoCal Regional Championships

The team delivered an impressive performance at the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) Championships, with the men's team finishing 4th overall and the women's team securing 5th place. Athletes excelled in all events, achieving season-best performances, personal records, and multiple qualifications for the SoCal Championships.

Men's Highlights
The men's 4x100 relay team set the track blazing with a season-best time of 43.50 seconds, earning a 3rd place finish and a well-deserved spot at the SoCal Championships.

In the sprints, Michael Boone placed 8th in the 100m with a season-best time of 10.96 seconds. Distance runner Brandon Guerrero ranked 8th in the 1500m, finishing in 4:17.48.

In the 800m, Sebastin Vieyra Gomez shattered his previous best with a personal record of 1:57.84, earning 5th place and qualifying for SoCal. Chance Grant competed in the 110m hurdles, finishing 7th in 20.74 seconds, while Ethen Triplett concluded the 400m with a personal best of 53.88 seconds, placing 8th.

The men's jumpers had a standout day. Jake Shaw won the PCAC Conference Title in the long jump with a personal record of 6.94m (22 ft, 9 in), ranking him 12th in the state and qualifying him for SoCal. Gabriel Dagnino contributed with a 4th place jump of 6.64m (21 ft, 9 in), also qualifying for SoCal, while Angel Mornin finished 8th with a jump of 5.83m (19 ft, 1 in).

In the throws, Jayden Dulatre secured 3rd place in the hammer throw with a personal record of 13.63m (44 ft, 8 in). In the discus throw Thomas Spittler finished in 4th place, and Jayden added another placement with a 6th in the discus throw.

Women's Highlights
The women's sprints were led by Camila Mendoza and Serena Williams, both of whom qualified for SoCal in the 100m dash, finishing 4th and 5th with personal records of 12.60 and 12.98 seconds, respectively. They also competed in the 200m, where Camila clocked a time of 26.26 seconds for 4th place, while Serena finished 6th in 26.40 seconds.

In the long jump, Camila placed 4th and achieved a personal record of 5.42m (17 ft, 9 in), qualifying for SoCal. Serena added an 8th place finish with a jump of 4.74m (15 ft, 6 in).

In the 1500m, Illya Rangel crossed the finish line in 4th place with a time of 5:50.89, also qualifying for SoCal, while Rasilia Thomas followed closely in 6th place with a time of 6:53.97.

The Jaguars demonstrated heart, hustle, and championship spirit, with many athletes now advancing to the Southern California Regional Championships.
