Southwestern Travels to No. 10 Arizona Western Saturday

CHULA VISTA, CA – Winners of three out of the last four games, the Southwestern College men's soccer team will look to continue their unbeaten road record against the nationally ranked Arizona Western College Matadors on Saturday, Sept. 20.  Game time in Yuma, AZ is set for 7:00 PM.

Southwestern (3-2) enters the contest after cruising past LA Harbor, 4-1 and hauling in four goals in the second half as the Jags maintained control of the last 45 minutes of action.  Christian Quezada scored two of the Jaguar goals and Danny Gutierrez and Jesus Valenzuela added a goal apiece.

Arizona Western (5-1) holds a No. 10 ranking by the National Junior College Athletic Association.  Cuyamaca hosted Arizona Western for a scrimmage mid-August and San Diego City College visited Matador Soccer Field on Aug. 22 and was rolled 6-0.

This is the first meeting in over a decade between Southwestern and Arizona Western.  The Jaguars will gain exposure against top-tier competition and have a shot at a signature win.  This "play up" opportunity can serve as an important benchmark of the 2025 men's soccer team's ability and potential to compete against a nationally ranked scholarship program.
