Cardona Captures First Career Win with 1-0 Victory over Orange Coast College
COSTA MESA, CA – Southwestern College men's soccer head coach Luis Cardona captured his first career win with a 1-0 win at Orange Coast College last Friday afternoon.
Cardona is in his 1st season at Southwestern and winning as a coach is huge, but not always for what it does for the coach - for what it does for the program and players on the pitch. There certainly has been a lot of excitement since Cardona stepped in to lead the Jaguars.
The Jaguars handed the Pirates their first loss of the season with freshman forward Christian 'Chapo' Quezada scoring the game winner in the 58th minute for SWC. Southwestern improves to 1-1 with the win. Southwestern soaked up the victory on the van ride back to Chula Vista, and once home Cardona found a nice spot to relax and reflect on his first win calling the shots.
However, Coach Cardona fully understands college athletics is a what you have done for me lately type of business. And not too long after, it was time to turn the page and get ready for the next game.
Southwestern (1-1) hits the road to take on Citrus College this afternoon, at 4 p.m.
