Late Rally Comes Up Short in Top-12 Matchup
CHULA VISTA, CA – Southwestern (6-2, 3-2 National Southern) has lost two straight after previously winning six a row. Meaningful change is occurring. The early season win streak provided affirmation and positive reinforcement. However, for a football program with championship aspirations the room for growth is undeniable.
Both of the Jaguars' recent defeats occurred after the opponents quickly jumped out to three touchdown leads. No. 12 Southwestern rallied and provided some drama for the spectators and viewers, but ultimately the effort wasn't enough as the Jaguars came up short in an agonizing 35-38 loss to El Camino (7-1, 5-0).
The resolve and confidence of the team was evident; however the Jags are not executing enough to win a game right now. Mistakes haunted Southwestern throughout the first and second half. Despite the errors, the Jaguars never flinched and continued to play with purpose.
The Jaguars slid two spots to No. 14 in the latest JC Athletic Bureau's poll for the California Community College Football Coaches Association and five spots to No. 30 in the JCGridiron.com Dirty 30 National Rankings.
