No. 12 Southwestern handles Long Beach 38-14

CHULA VISTA, CA – Second-year Southwestern head football coach Oscar Rodriguez has the Jaguars off to a 3-0 start this season, defeating opponents by a combined score of 135-48.  SWC concluded non-conference play with a 38-14 win at Long Beach City College last Saturday.  It's especially impressive considering the Jags won just three games in their previous two seasons combined.

The Southwestern Community College District's investments in facilities, intercollegiate athletics and head coaches are starting to pay off, and athletic programs could finally start reaching their potential.  No longer will the District spend more and reap less.

The Jaguars have started hot headed into the National League Southern Conference opener.  The talented team looks legit under Coach Rod.  Southwestern solidified their status in the JC Athletic Bureau's poll for the California community College Football Coaches Association moving up to a Top 10 ranking.  But the #9 Southwestern Jaguars (3-0) are about to be tested -- and their chance is coming to make a statement versus #21 Mt. San Jacinto Eagles (2-1).

Per the JCGridiron Dirty 30 National Rankings, "Southwestern is 3-0 after cruising past an undermanned Long Beach City team, 38-14.  The No. 28 ranking is the highest in history"

The undefeated Jaguars play their fourth game of the season on Saturday, Sept. 20 in DeVore Stadium at 1:00 PM.
