Southwestern College Sends Three to New Adventures

Southwestern College Sends Three to New Adventures

Southwestern College softball is excited to announce 3 players from the 2024 team have accepted offers to play at four-year institutions to continue their academic and athletic careers.

Jordyn Beatty, 2nd team all PCAC shortstop accepted an offer to play at Rockhurst University in St. Louis Missouri. Rockhurst University is a D-2 program that was looking for impact
players that could come in and contribute right away. Jordyn, Pitcher/1B Maddie Mendez and 3b/ Util Rachel Varela both accepted offers to NAIA Westcliff University in Irvine CA. Coach Brandon
Wallace was looking for a top-tier pitcher and speed to round out his roster and he found both in Maddie and Rachel. Maddie was 1st team all PCAC both years at Southwestern
and led the team last year in most offensive and pitching categories. Maddie was actively recruited, received several offers and ultimately decided to stay in
Southern California to finish her final two years of collegiate softball.

Rachel was uncertain of what the future had in store after her time at Southwestern, but after talking to Coach Wallace, immediately committed to Westcliff.  She will have an instant
impact both on the field and in the locker room. Rachel grew up in Orange Couty and lives near campus, so this ended up being a perfect fit.

Coach Gross stated, "We always look for multiple opportunities for our student athletes than can excel both in the classroom and on the field. We are genuinely excited for all 3
of our players to get to continue with their next adventure"
