Throughout Ms. Eleazar’s tenure as a coach, on various levels, she has had the opportunity to train and mentor hundreds of youth and high school boys and girls interested in the sport and/or the fun of basketball. Basketball is a sport she has always loved and competed herself. The role of a basketball coach takes a lot of dedication, commitment, late nights, hard work, patience, and know how to which she possesses along with the skillset and qualifications.
Ms. Eleazar has been coaching for over 20 years. Ms. Eleazar coached 15 seasons at Eastlake High School and was the Varsity Head Coach for 12 seasons. In those 12 seasons, the Eastlake High Girls Basketball program ran off 11 league titles, which included a steak of 10 consecutive league titles. Eastlake was a perennial top four program in San Diego County each of the 12 seasons. In 2006, the girls attained the highest honor in regional play by reaching the Division I CIF Championship game. We came away shorthanded that night, but was victorious in our feat to play in championship play. The following year, we came back with a vengeance and, not only reached the championship game, but were crowned the 2007 Division I CIF Champions with the victory over Helix High School. Tournament Championships, at the High School level, also included Best of the West hosted at La Jolla Country Day, The Nike Tournament of Champions hosted in Phoenix, Arizona, and the KSA Holiday Tournament in Orlando, Florida. Ms. Eleazar had the pleasure of working with a multitude of great young ladies. Over the years, Ms. Eleazar has helped over 20 young ladies play at the next level (Junior College, Division I and Division II. Throughout those 12 seasons, along with high school coaching accolades, Ms. Eleazar gained a youth club team called Lady Titians Basketball Club. My focus was on young ladies from the 3rd grade throughout middle school.
In 2009, Ms. Eleazar wanted to devote more time to the younger level. Therefore, Ms. Eleazar started up the Piranhas Basketball Travel Club Team. Since 2009, the club has grown from 12 players to over 100 total players in all levels. We are one of the top club teams in San Diego County. We travel all over California, Nevada and Arizona. Ms. Eleazar is responsible for the administrative work, travel arrangements, accounting, procurement (uniforms and equipment) camps, training, scheduling games, practices, fundraising events and most importantly, the Head Coach for majority of the teams.
Ms. Eleazar started her basketball career at Southwest High School. As a varsity player, Ms. Eleazar received MVP honors, Hustle Award, multiple 1st Team All-Metro Conference Honors, and was in the top 10 in scoring in the county her senior season. From there, Ms. Eleazar went on to play at Southwestern Community College where she was selected Defensive Player of the Year and Unsung Hero.
In 1997, Ms. Eleazar received her Bachelor’s Degree at San Diego State University. Ms. Eleazar continued her education and attended National University to receive her Masters of Education in 2004. Ms. Eleazar is currently teaching Health and Special Ed at Eastlake high school.
Ms. Eleazar’s approach in her role(s) is “TEACHER FIRST”. Through her role as a teacher for over 15 years and coaching for over 20 years, Ms. Eleazar understands the most important thing when coaching basketball which is to ensure that each player comes away with values that will help them with the game and in life. Hard Work, Commitment, Teamwork, Responsibility and Loyalty are the core values of the Piranhas Basketball Club and to whomever she coaches.
