Athletic Training

It is the mission of the Health, Exercise Science and Athletics Department at Southwestern College to provide an Athletic Training facility that creates a fair environment for all student athletes to have access to the best possible care and prevention of sports related injuries.

The Athletic Training staff cares for approximately 500 student athletes competing on our 16 athletic teams.  Through communication, creativity and innovation, the athletic training staff and team physician collaborate in a team approach in order to meet the needs of the student-athlete.  Our goal is always to return our athletes to full participation as quickly and safely as possible.

Our brand new state of the art 1,700 square foot facility accommodates both the men’s and women’s athletic programs.  The main athletic training room is located on the 1st floor (field level) of the Health, Exercise Science and Athletics building. It is open Monday through Friday from 10am to 6pm and two hours before game time on weekends.  The new gymnasium / wellness center will have a satellite athletic training facility for events and games held in that venue.

Should your athletic teams have any special needs please contact us in advance so that we can accommodate for that.  Emergency equipment and first aid supplies will be available and a certified athletic trainer will attend each athletic event. A team physician and ambulance will be present at all football games. In case of an emergency, Sharp Hospital is within 6 minutes of the Southwestern campus.
